30 Trout Caught During WVFD Fishing Derby

WOODBURY – Under a sunny sky, 27 young anglers tried their luck in the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Mel Snyder Memorial Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 11. In all they caught 30 trout at the free event.

Tyler Pennoyer of Brookfield caught the largest fish, a19.5 inch tiger trout, and took home the Lee King largest fish trophy. His brother Cameron Pennoyer was awarded the Darlene Start sportsmanship award. Evan Wilhelm from Southbury received trophy for most motivated angler this year.

“We also recognized the nearly 15 local businesses that supplied prizes for the raffle during the event,” said  Firefighter Jason Hatstat, the organizer. “All the children and their parents really enjoyed themselves. It was a terrific morning.”
