Just Woodbury Will Be Suspending Operations in…

An Open Letter to JustWoodbury.com Readers and Partners

Dear Just Woodbury readers,

I posted a contributed photo Sunday of an automobile accident to Just Woodbury’s Facebook page. Although I saw this as very important breaking news, the decision to post it offended many of you.
So I took the post down. I am sorry, and I hope everyone involved in the accident is okay or on the road to recovery.

But it also made another life decision much easier… my decision to suspend the operations of Just Woodbury. That will happen on July 1.

This is something I had been thinking about for quite some time now, but I was determined to make Just Woodbury work. While the website now has 10,000 monthly users, very few businesses have chosen to advertise… even if it meant that by supporting Just Woodbury, it would help grow their own businesses.
But I also felt it was my duty to keep moving Just Woodbury forward – even if it meant working 16+ hour days doing Just Woodbury, working a full-time job, and taking on freelance clients. I say 16+ because running an online newspaper in the new publishing environment is an around-the-clock commitment.

I want to give a big thanks to those of you who have supported Just Woodbury these past 2+ years, whether as a reader, an actual paying advertiser, a contributor, a partner, or a friend. It has meant a lot to me. I truly hope those of you who chose to partner with me have reaped the benefits.
Sincerely,
Tim Parry

Your decision to stop publishing JustWoodbury is a great loss for Woodbury, although I fully understand the business reason. JustWoodbury provided a needed service in the area, and I only wish it had been a commercial as well as a public success for your sake and for the community’s sake.

Thank you Tim. You put out a great product. We are living in a dark time where Facebook is the only outlet for timely local news. We are doomed.

    Dear Tim
I am a former long time resident of Woodbury, more than 50 years. I live in Washington state and annually get back to my hometown. Your “Newspaper” was read with much enthusiasm by wife, formerly of Morris, as well as myself. Thank you for your efforts.

  • L says:

Thank you so much Tim for your dedication and caring to keep residence aware within your Just Woodbury emails and Facebook page. You and all you’ve done and given is going to be missed. Oh I’m soooooo sad because I definitely will miss this online! I’m always reading it to see what’s coming up in town or what has happened around town. You have done a marvelous service and shame on Woodbury businesses for not participating in advertising! It was for their own benefit…. fools!
Please know that I supported you and will miss this important piece of Woodbury! All the very best to you Tim Parry and thank you.
