Woodbury Saw and Mower finished third in the Business Challenge Cup, and was the highest-ranking finisher from the Town of Woodbury.

WOODBURY – And the winner of the Pack 54’s 22nd Annual Business Challenge Cup is Bart’s Tree Service. The Danbury-based business’s Pinewood Derby car was the only one to not lose a race Saturday during the Cub Scouts’ competition for businesses, which was held at Mitchell Elementary School.

Bart’s Tree Service defeated Class Cycles of Southbury in a pair of head-to-head races to claim the title.

Woodbury Saw and Mower finished third, and was unofficially crowned Woodbury’s champion of 2019. Woodbury Diner’s car finished fourth, and Newtown Savings Bank was fifth.

The Pinewood Derby is a racing event for unpowered, unmanned miniature cars. According to the Boy Scouts of America, scouts build their own cars from wood kits containing a block of pine wood, plastic wheels, and metal axles.

Businesses made donations to Pack 54 to enter the race, and were given the option to have a scout or scout leader build their car. Pack 54 saw 29 local businesses, including Just Woodbury enter the competition.
