WOODBURY – Nonnewaug High School Assistant Principal Bill Nemec will become the Principal of Woodbury Middle School on July 1, according to a letter emailed to Region 14 parents and guardians on Monday.
Region 14 Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anna Cutaia said in the letter that current Principal Eric Bergeron will not be returning to Region 14 in his role as Principal of Woodbury Middle School.
“We are grateful for his service to the many students of Region 14,” Cutaia wrote.
Bergeron has been on an undisclosed medical leave since early March. Pam Lazaroski, who retired as Principal of Lewis Mills High School in Burlington after the 2015-16 school year and had been working as a school climate specialist at Woodbury Middle School, has been the Interim Principal.
Nemec has been a member of the leadership team at Nonnewaug since 2011 and has served in the roles of Assistant Principal, Dean of Students, and Athletic Director.
“He has been an integral part of the work involving high quality instruction and building a positive school culture,” Cutaia wrote. “He has focused on building relationships with staff and students and opening the lines of communication to promote a shared responsibility as a key to positive school climate.”
Nemec’s 27 years of experience in education includes time in the Cromwell, New Fairfield, Watertown, and Region 14 school systems.
