Edible Perennials for New England Landscapes
May 14 @ 11:00 am
The Pomperaug Valley Garden Club is happy to welcome John Root – Certified Landscape Professional and Naturalist, who will present a lecture on “Edible Perennials for New England Landscape” on Tuesday, May 14th, at 11 a.m. at the Woodbury Fire House, 25 Quassuk Road, Woodbury.
“Edible Perennials for New England Landscapes” is a power point presentation featuring the variety of trees, shrubs, vines, canes, and herbaceous perennials that can be grown in New England for bountiful harvests of fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Participants learn how to establish and care for these plants using organic methods of cultivation. Nutritional and medicinal benefits of the plants are discussed as well. Questions and comments are welcome throughout the presentation, and handouts with a list of edible perennial plant species, resources for further study, and recommended plant nurseries are distributed at the conclusion of the program.
Guests are welcome to join us for a $5 donation. The Pomperaug Valley Garden Club sponsors speakers at monthly meetings, garden-oriented field trips, civic beautification and educational outreach projects in Woodbury, and a scholarship program.
