Winter 2019 Foundations of Meditation Class begins Sunday January 13th at the Woodbury Meditation and Yoga Center.
The Foundations of Meditation 3-week intensive begins Sunday January 13th, running for 3 Sundays from 2:15-5:15pm (Jan 13, 20, 27). Janaki Pierson, the Director of WYC, offers this course designed specifically to help participants establish themselves in a regular, daily practice of meditation for maximum benefit.
This course involves training in the theory and practice of correct meditation. Topics include benefits of meditation, application to stress management, posture, the relationship between breath and mind, the power of mantra, the evolution of consciousness, Kundalini Shakti, and the mind and attention. Janaki has been teaching meditation for over 35 years here, throughout Connecticut, NY, PA and New England.
The benefits of meditation include Increases in focus and concentration, self esteem, sense of belonging and sense of community, reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness, enhanced decision making ability and efficiency, reduction in anxiety and stress, deepens and improves sleep and increases creativity. The mind becomes peaceful and content, strengthening the immune system and physical body.
