March 17 @ 7:00 pm
The public is invited to attend a free Sunday evening program on March 17th, “All Yoga is Therapeutic: Hearing Our Bodies’ Lessons” at 7:00 PM with Janaki Pierson.
“The most important yoga teacher is your own body,” Janaki is known to say in her classes.
“By listening to one’s body, a yoga practitioner develops the skill of knowing just how far to go into a pose, to be gentle and approach an area of discomfort with awareness and respect. Over time, this conscious attention on how one uses one’s body while practicing yoga becomes habituated so the practitioner naturally moves and makes decisions that better support one’s physical health and well being, both in and out of class. The external yoga teacher is simply a guide for helping each individual develop this skill in particular postures which help to improve the body’s flexibility, strength, circulation, and potential for healing itself.”
Ms. Pierson, co-founder and executive director of the Woodbury Meditation & Yoga Center, presents seminars on Hatha Yoga, Meditation, Stress Management, Death and Dying/Life and Living, Elementary Sanskrit, and Thinking into Being: Creating Your Own Reality. Ms. Pierson has been teaching meditation for over 38 years and has been established in her own daily practice for over 43 years.
The Woodbury Meditation & Yoga Center (WMYC) is located at 122 West Side Road in Woodbury, CT. Everyone is welcome to come earlier, at 5:00 pm, for a complimentary sample yoga class.
