The True Story of Pocahontas: The Other Side of History

October 24, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Countless schoolchildren have heard the tale of Pocahontas and Captain John Smith, and movies and books have long perpetuated the English colonists’ version of the story. Now, for the first time in 400 years, the Native voice rings out, revealing the true account of Pocahontas’s life and tragic events surrounding her capture.

Join The Institute for the American Indian Studies and the Woodbury Public Library for a fact-filled  discussion of the real woman, one far removed from the Disney version.  “The True Story of Pocahontas: The Other Side of History” discussion will be led by Darlene Kascak (Schaghticoke) the Education Coordinator of the Institute for American Indian Studies in Washington, CT .

Copies of the book are available to check out at the Woodbury Library to join in on this fascinating discussion on Tuesday, October 24 at the Woodbury Senior Center.  Please note that  this program is suitable for High School ages through adult.

To register, visit the library’s website www.woodburylibraryct.org or call 203-263-3502 for more information.
