Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) Training
December 5 @ 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm
One event on December 5, 2018 at 5:30pm
Recognizing the importance of youth mental health and suicide prevention, Calvary Southbury is hosting this two-day workshop for the community.
Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) Training is a nationally recognized, evidence-based program designed to help prepare adult and teen leaders to recognize and address mental health problems among youth and adolescents in our communities. Participants learn how to recognize the symptoms of common mental illnesses and substance use disorders, de-escalate crisis situations safely, and initiate timely referrals to mental health and substance abuse resources available in the community.
Any individual who feels comfortable learning how to recognize and address mental health problems among youth and adolescents is encouraged to attend. YMHFA Training is designed for those who do not have advanced education or training in the mental health profession.
Training will take place at 444 Main Street N. on Dec. 3 and Dec. 5 from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The YMHFA training is 8 hours long and participants must attend all 8 hours to receive YMHFA Training Certification.
Cost is $25 and space is limited. Snacks and water will be provided both nights. To register, go to calvarysouthbury.info or call 203-267-5441.
