Chiefs With Character: Courtney Klimak

Courtney Klimak is a senior at Nonnewaug High School, and was nominated by LMS teacher Todd Gorski. Here’s why Courtney Klimak was chosen as one of the Chiefs With Character for February 2018:

Courtney is one of the most genuinely kind, compassionate students I have ever met. She is a gifted artist and you can find her in the art room countless evenings until the building closes at 11:00 p.m.

She stays at school to seek extra help from her teacher, to help other aspiring artists, and to assist with set building and painting for the school’s musical, Footloose.

While Courtney has exhibited dedication to Nonnewaug’s visual art program throughout her time here, her kindness continues to shine even brighter. This year I was made aware of some students laughing and quietly saying mean things about another student walking by. Having been within earshot, Courtney walked over to these students and told them to stop, making sure they realized that what they were saying was unkind.

This award is a fitting recognition for all the good she quietly does for others, in and out of the art room.
