Chiefs With Character: Elizabeth Varnum

Elizabeth Varnum is a senior at Nonnewaug High School, and was nominated by library media specialist Todd Gorski. Here’s why Elizabeth Varnum was chosen as one of the Chiefs of Character for November 2017:

Elizabeth Varnum is one of the most hardworking students I have had the pleasure of working with. She is constantly seeking ways of improving her writing and presentation skills and takes advantage of any opportunity to revise and improve her work.

Elizabeth serves as treasurer for National Honor Society. She sits on the teen advisory board for the Woodbury Public Library. She can always be found at community events and fundraisers, including Trick or Treat Street and face painting at the Bethlehem Fair.

Her kindness is also evident at her church; she bakes cookies for shut in senior citizens, she assists with church spaghetti dinners and she gives freely of her time and talents to benefit philanthropic organizations such as the United Methodist Committee on Relief (for disaster assistance).
