Chiefs With Character: Steven Keenan

Steven Keenan is a senior at Nonnewaug High School and was nominated by Library Media teacher Todd Gorski. Here’s why Steven Keenan was chosen as one of the Chiefs With Character for April 2018:

Steven Keenan is a man who spreads positivity. I look forward to seeing him every day and being greeted with a firm handshake and a smile.

Steven’s dedication to Nonnewaug Athletics is admirable; he has been an asset to the track, wrestling and football teams over the course of his schooling. He values hard work and applies the same determination and perseverance to his studies as well as his work at March Farm and Brooks Landscaping. Despite a busy schedule, he still finds time to give back to his his community through volunteering.

Most importantly, Steven has been someone who remains true to himself. Recently, he engaged in a political conversation with his friends. I was impressed by his ability to clearly articulate his viewpoints while respectfully debating certain points made by others. Through dialogue, he was able to weigh the pros and cons of different topics. I saw the same type of great discussion skills while recording his debate on the NFL and concussions for Sports & Research class.

This type of respectful dialogue is what our country needs more of. My faith in humanity is restored knowing that Steven is leading the next generation.
