NONNEWAUG – The dominating senior season of Nonnewaug cross country runner Eddie Nicholas continues.
Nicholas won the Nonnewaug Cross Country Invitational on Friday with a time of 16:08.5. The closest finisher to Nicholas, Brendan Mellitt of Cheshire, was 15.7 seconds behind him.
This month, Nicholas also won the Connecticut River Valley Invitational and the Winding Trails Invitational. Nicholas’s performance at the Connecticut River Valley Invitational on Sept. 15 met the MileSplit US Second Team standard for high school boys.
The Nonnewaug boys cross country team finished the race 6th overall. Gregory Bastek was 11th overall with a time of 18:19.0, Connor Inglis was 32nd (19:17.7), Ian Budrewicz was 61st (21.09.7), and Derek Dodge was 70th (22:01.0).
The Nonnewaug girls cross country team was 4th overall. Helene Berger finished 10th overall with a time of 21:12.4, Sara Stahl was 19th (22:13.1), Maddie Woodward was 23rd (22:15.8), Carly Andrew was 27th (22:27.5), and Brooke Andrew was 47th (24:45.5).
