WOODBURY – Accomplished wildlife artist Melody Asbury will be offering a four week class on painting animals at Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust.
The series will begin on Wednesday, September 27, with classes also held on the following Wednesdays of October 4, 11, and 18. All classes will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the historic Van Vleck Studio on the corner of Flanders Road and Church Hill Road in Woodbury.
Students will have the opportunity to paint from photographs, an assortment of taxidermy animals and/or Flanders own livestock. Individual instruction will be given with the emphasis on structure, anatomy and learning to see the individual characteristics of each animal.
All artistic levels are welcome and any medium can be used. Participants are asked to bring a sketchbook, pencils, a good reference photograph and their own art supplies to the first class.
The cost for the series is $100 for members or $150 for non-members.
