For Openers, Nonnewaug Volleyball Beats Defending Champs

WOODBURY – The Nonnewaug volleyball team lost to Berkshire League champion Lewis Mills in the finals of last season’s league tournament.

On opening night of the 2018 season, however, the Chiefs got their revenge.

Nonnewaug topped Lewis Mills in a nail-biter on Tuesday 3-2. The game cores were 25-18, 20-25, 25-15, 24-26, 15-3.

The Chiefs were led by three seniors who saw their first extended playing time with the varsity. Phoebe Hale had 8 kills, 4 aces, and 1 block. Sarah MacLean had 23 assists 2 kills, and 4 aces. Ally Codiana had 9 aces and 4 kills.
