Gallery: Cardboard Challenge at Mitchell Elementary School

WOODBURY – The Cardboard Challenge has come to Mitchell Elementary School.

On February 28, Mitchell Elementary School will hold its first Cardboard Challenge Day of Play to coincide with viewing the Science Fair entries. The Cardboard Challenge is a global engineering event in its 5th year and was launched in response to a short film entitled Caine’s Arcade. This short film caused a global sensation, stemming from a young boy’s cardboard arcade creation that he worked on in his father’s parts garage in East L.A.

The Cardboard Challenge is open to MES students in grades 3-5 and fosters design thinking as well as creativity. Students began working on Fridays after school in the gym on January 19 and will work on their projects until February 23.

The games will be available to play on the night of the Science Fair, and will cost players a penny to play. The money will go to a Litchfield County charity of the students choosing.
