WOODBURY – The Woodbury Middle School Warrior Council hosted its 5th annual Super Bowl Pancake Breakfast this morning at the WMS cafeteria.

The purpose and focus of the Warrior Council, which is co-advised by faculty members Carol Tomkalski, Lee Hubbard, and Anthony Gonsalves, is to organize various school events and activities that bring together the community at large.

Tomkalski said the proceeds from all Warrior Council events go toward its March Madness event, which is a free of charge evening for the entire student body. It includes  which includes Big Daddy’s racing, a game truck, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, movie rooms, a DJ, and food. Last year, wore than 90% of the student body attended March Madness.

“Each year the pancake breakfast draws more and more people, which is so wonderful,” Tomkalski said. “Last year we served close to 300 people and hope to exceed that this year.”

Tomkalski said there are 50 students in The Warrior Council, which she said goes to show how much WMS students really enjoy planning and executing such activities.

“The ultimate goal of the club is to help students continue to develop their leadership skills,” Tomkalski said. “The pancake breakfast offers them a great opportunity to do that, from set up, to greeting and serving our guests, to clean up, all students have a role.”
