Come to The Glebe House Museum’s festive garden party, Wine & Roses, to celebrate Gertrude Jekyll’s 175th birthday. The party will take place in the Gertrude Jekyll Garden from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21st.
For the party, the Glebe House Museum has a hired an actress to play Gertrude Jekyll to give their guests a chance to ‘meet’ the famous gardener and learn about her life and work. Hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served and guests can sample Gertrude’s Garden, a white wine named for Gertrude Jekyll that was bottled in Woodbury by Walker Road Vineyards. There will also be a silent auction for special items chosen for the event and the museum will be open for the evening.
Although Gertrude Jekyll’s birthday is actually in November, the Glebe House Museum thought it was better to host her party in the garden she created and the last Gertrude Jekyll Garden in the entire United States.
Tickets for the party are $25.00 per person and all of the proceeds will go into supporting the Glebe House Museum and the Gertrude Jekyll Garden.
Wine and Roses will held at 49 Hollow Rd, Woodbury, CT.
