Grass Roots Pirates Take 2 Wins in WBS League Play

The Grass Roots Pirates take the field on Woodbury Baseball & Softball’s opening day ceremonies on April 28, 2018.

The following Woodbury Baseball & Softball results were reported by coaches to Just Woodbury for the week ending May 19, 2018:

LV Electric Phillies 5, Ovens of France Mariners 2

Owen Fitzgerald pitched 2 innings, struck out five and gave no earned runs. Scott Viveros knocked in Whit DePreter for the first of the Phillies’ runs. Patrick Toon pitched well for the Mariners.

Grass Roots Pirates 17, Ovens of France Mariners 4

The Pirates had a great team performance with solid pitching and clutch hitting. For the Mariners, Jack Fonte had a defensive web gem at first base and Luke Primini gave a solid starting pitching performance.

Grass Roots Pirates 6, LV Electric Phillies 4

Robert Metcalf’s 2 RBI single in the first got the Pirates started and his strong pitching performance in the fourth inning closed the game. The Phillies continue to hit deep bombs to the outfield, several compliments of Whit DePreter.
