Hit-and-Run Driver Turns Himself In

WOODBURY – A Woodbury man who was a suspect in a hit-and-run accident on April 12 has turned himself in to Troop L in Litchfield.

Colin Maier, 26, was charged with failure to renew a motor vehicle registration, evading responsibility with physical injury, operating with a suspended license, failure to drive right, and following too closely.

Police said the pickup truck operated by Maier crossed the double yellow line on Sycamore Avenue in the area of Bear Hill Road and struck a BMW at about 8:54 p.m. The resulted in significant property damage and injuries sustained by the operator of the BMW.

The female operator of the BMW, from Southbury, sustained cuts to her face as well as an injured shoulder. She was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Maier is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 22.
