Jake Cenatiempo 51st at USATF Cross Country Championship

Jake Cenatiempo breezed to victory earlier this year at the inaugural Woodbury Baseball & Softball 5k XC Run.

Mitchell Elementary School fifth-grader Jake Cenatiempo finished 51st Saturday in the Boys 3k Run 9-10 Division at the 2018 USATF National Junior Olympics Cross Country Championship in Reno, NV.

Racing for the Nutmeg Striders, Cenatiempo finished the 3,000 meter race in 12:41.8.

The race was won by Maximo Zavaleta, who blazed the course in 11:07.4. Zavaleta finished 15.1 seconds ahead of runner-up Tesfaye Femling.

Cenatiempo has become a fixture on the local racing scene as well. In 2018, Cenatiempo won the first-ever Woodbury Baseball & Softball 5k XC Run, fourth overall in the Flanders Field & Forest 5k, and fourth overall at the Go the Distance for Scholars 5K Road Race.
