Just Woodbury Features Nonnewaug’s “Chiefs With Character”

WOODBURY – Just Woodbury will be featuring Nonnewaug’s “Chiefs With Character” on its website, beginning with those students chosen for the honor during the 2017-18 academic year.

Chiefs With Character is a way to recognize students who are above and beyond in ways not measured by grades. A “Chief With Character” is a Nonnewaug student who demonstrates (at least one, but possibly multiple of):
  • Above and beyond helpfulness and integrity, especially when it is not necessarily easy or convenient to do so;
  • Total respect for others within the school community (including property, beliefs, and opinions);
  • Unwavering perseverance in academics, athletics, club activities, and/or other areas of school life;
  • Leadership (by example) and maturity evidenced by wise decisions making, exhibiting fairness, and the ability to inspire others;
  • Community involvement by giving of their time for the benefit of others.

Students are recognized during morning announcements, with a picture and their bio displayed, on a special page in the yearbook, and with a recognition breakfast.
