Leo Fiore Helps Oxford Flag Football Team Win Championship

Leo Fiore (4th from left) helped the Lions win the Oxford Flag Football League championship this season.

OXFORD – Woodbury resident Leo Fiore helped the Lions win the Oxford Flag Football League Division 2 championship game last Sunday, November 19.

The Lions, who finished the season with a 10-0 record, defeated the 7-2-1 Seahawks 33-19.

It was a back and forth battle, on a cold and wind Sunday, between the 9-0 Lions and the 7-1-1 Seahawks. The two were destined to meet in this championship game. Tension was high for the season finale.

The Seahawks scored first, but the Lions answered back quickly with a score of their own. The Lions began to take charge in the second half with a strong team consisting of Fiore, Connor Clifford, Ryan O’Connell, Will and Johnny Broas, Adam Lang, Aidan Chase, Nathan Bowen, Mason Pals, Ronnie Artman, Mason Lawrence, and Alex James.

The team was coached by Lee Clifford.

Back in June, Fiori delivered the game-winning walk-off hit for the Rays in the Woodbury Baseball and Softball Major League championship game.
