WOODBURY – Nonnewaug senior field hockey players and co-captains Lindsey Ross and Alyssa Renihan were named to the Connecticut High School Coaches Association’s All-State teams.

Ross was named first-team All State and the Academic All-State team, and was selected to play in the Senior All-Star Game on November 26.

Ross, who plays center mid, scored 11 goals and had 15 assists this season.

“Lindsey improved most this year is finding her voice on the team and on the field, as a senior captain but also as a player,” said Nonnewaug head coach Beth Tarby. “We all know her skills are superior, but she came out of comfort zone a bit and was a true leader on the field, in turn made her an unstoppable force and resulted in Nonnewaug having such a great season.”

Renihan was named to the CHSCA All-State second team. The left inner had 13 goals and 2 assists for the Chiefs.

“It’s exciting for Alyssa to be recognized for her hard work this year on the field,” Tarby said. “Alyssa was a strong steady presence on the front line for the team. She improved on her stick and ball handling skills and had a great ending to her senior year.”
