WOODBURY – A public Celebration of Life for Republican Registrar of Voters Judith Henderson will be held June 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Old Town Hall.
Henderson, who was 79, passed away on Feb. 5 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a brief illness, but the family wanted to wait until the warmer weather to hold the service so out-of-town family could attend.
In addition to her Registrar of Voters duties – a position she held since 2012 – Henderson was also past president of Friends of the Woodbury Public Library, and was instrumental in starting the Book Cellar used book store.
In her spare time, Henderson enjoyed reading and ceramics, and was an avid fan of Danbury’s professional ice hockey teams.
Henderson was born in Bridgeport on Nov. 7, 1939 and attended Bassick High School and Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She was married to her husband, Walter, from 1970 until his death in 2015. The couple raised their family in Monroe until they moved to Woodbury in 1980.
Henderson is survived by her son, Jeffrey, daughter-in-law, Heather, and granddaughter, Sarah, who all live in Woodbury. She is also survived by a brother, Roland Wehger, of Shelton, and a sister, Susan Jefferies, of Vermont.
