Nonnewaug Filmmakers Take Home Red Carpet Awards

Nonnewaug High School was well represented in the 2018 Skills21 Red Carpet Awards, which were held last month at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford.

The Nonnewaug student team of Dean Jones, Ben Haggard, Brian Viveros, Michael Classey, Aiden Leonard, Joseph Wall, and Peter Lucera won four awards in the 84 Hour Challenge for their short film, The Intern. The team won for Best Acting, Best Picture, Audience Choice Award, and Parent Choice Award.

84 Hour Challenge is a contest in which a group of students have 84 hours to prep, shoot, and edit a short film incorporating criteria that Skills21 provides. The film was part of Expo Fest judging, presented to a panel of industry professionals and college faculty.

Madison Greenwald took home the top prize in the Animation 90 Second Challenge for Art & Life.

The Animation 90 Second Challenge is a contest in which students or a student create an Animated film. Students can create an animated film using any type of animation including but not limited to: traditional/cell animation, 2D/Flash animation, motion graphics, computer 3D animation, and stopmotion.
