Nonnewaug High School’s Tri-M Music Honor Society will sponsor the 3rd-Annual Nonnewaug Music Festival on March 1 and 2.
This two-day event brings together students from Nonnewaug High School, Woodbury Middle School, Watertown High School Brookfield High School and Masuk High School to form a band, choir and orchestra.
This event, started in 2016, is an opportunity for students to get a music festival experience and the opportunity to work with several different ensemble directors and not only learn from them, but also learn from other musicians. The festival culminates on Friday evening with a concert at 7:00 in the Nonnewaug High School Auditorium.
Admission is $5 and all proceeds will be donated to the Give A Note Foundation which is a nationally recognized non-profit that provides music education opportunities to school districts in need.
“This festival is an amazing opportunity for Nonnewaug students because most of our students are used to performing in an ensemble with fewer than 30 students,” said NHS Music Director Amy Perras. “With this festival, they are performing in groups of 80-100. Furthermore, students get the opportunity to work closely with directors from the other schools and learn from them. For many students who participate, it is one of their favorite performances of the year.”
