Nonnewaug Wrestlers Take Down Derby and St. Joseph

WOODBURY – The Nonnewaug wrestling team won its meets Wednesday against Derby and St. Joseph. The Chiefs fell to Platt and Seymour.

Nonnewaug defeated St. Joseph 66-6, as nine of its wins came by forfeit. In the 170 lb. match, Flori Cenkoli pinned his opponent in 1:00.

Nonnewaug won several matches by forfeit in its 66-18 win over Derby. Kelvin Cenkoli (132), Ben Niez-Charest (145), and Jordon Carney (220) pinned their opponents. Carney’s pin came :55 into his match.

The Chiefs fell to Platt 46-36. Kelvin Cenkoli, Flori Cenkoli, Niez-Charest, Carney, and Jack Cronin (182) pinned their opponents. Kelvin Cenkoli’s pin came in just :22, while Cronin’s came in :55.

Nonnewaug lost to Seymour 9-0.
