NEW BRITAIN – Woodbury resident Paige Brandt brought home gold from the Nutmeg State Games gymnastics meet, which was held July 14 at New Britain High School.
Competing for the first time in the Xcel Platinum level, Brandt was the all around winner. Brandt also won gold in the bars, floor, and vault, and won a silver medal in the balance beam. Team West also won the gold.
“I was really nervous to compete in a level above me, but after I did it and finished as well as I did, I was so happy,” Brandt said.
Last year, Brandt competed at the Xcel Gold level, and won 4 bronze medals and a silver. The West team won the gold.
Brandt is entering her freshman year at Nonnewaug High School. Her club team is Kinetic Kids.
The Nutmeg State Games is the largest amateur multi-sport sporting event in Connecticut. Now celebrating it’s 30th Anniversary of uniting Connecticut’s residents in the common bond of amateur sport and Olympic spirit.
