Party Change Deadline for Primaries is May 14

For electors planning to vote in the August 14 Democratic or Republican State/District/Municipal Primary who currently are registered members of a minority party, the deadline for changing their registration to one of these two major parties is three months before the primary date – or May 14.

Minority parties currently recognized in Connecticut – and affected by the May 14 deadline include Green Party, Independent, Libertarian, Woodbury First, and Working Families. This deadline also applies to Republicans who wish to change their affiliation to Democrat – and vice versa.

Voters who didn’t specify a party when they registered to vote, or who opted for Unaffiliated party status, must change their party affiliation to either Republican or Democratic to vote in a Primary. That deadline is the day before the Primary, August 13.

The polling place for August Primary will be in the O&G Room at the Woodbury Senior Community Center at 265 Main Street South. The only change in location would occur in the event of a primary in the 68th District race for State Representative which would be held in a separate room at the Senior Community Center.

Voting hours are from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Those seeking additional information may call the Registrar’s office at 203-263-4750 or the Town Clerk’s office at 203-263-2144.
