WOODBURY – The Rays breezed into the Woodbury Baseball & Softball championship game with a 16-6 win over the Orioles in a playoff game Friday at Hollow Park.
Nate Bertoli went 4-for-4 at the plate with two singes, two home runs, three RBIs and three runs scored. Luke Martin had two hits and Tommy Faull had two hits and three RBIs for the Rays.
Ben Faruci and Nick Rose both scored three times for the Rays, and Martin and Logan Petriatis both scored twice.
Spencer Pasquariello, Logan Pasquariello and Ricky Lionhood each had a pair of hits for the Orioles.
Spencer Pasquariello led off the game with a double, and moved to third on a ground out by Matt Palumbo. Logan Pasquariello plated his brother with a single and gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead.
But the Rays answered with fire runs in the bottom of the first. Ben Faraci led off with a walk, went to second on a passed ball, stole third, and scored on a ground out by Will Bartoli. Nate Bartoli then hit his first homer of the game to make it 2-1.
Martin then singled and scored on an error, and Petriatis, Ryan Dandeneau and Rose each walked. Petriatis scored on an walk by Leo Fiore, and Faull drove in Dandeneau and Rose to give the Rays a 6-1 lead.
The Rays kept the offense going in the second with another six-run inning. Martin singled to drive in Will Bartoli and Nate Bartoli, and later scored on a passed ball. Dandeneau grounded out to score Martin, and Rose scored on an single by Andrew Greene. Faull then singled to plate Greene and gave the Rays a 12-1 lead.

The Orioles marched back in the top of the third. Jacob Gallop walked with the bases loaded to score Spencer Pasquariellio. Mason Lupo singled and drove in Palumbo and Logan Pasquariello. A single by Ricky Lionhood scored Gallop, and a ground out by Kevin Llenga brought in Lupo and cut the Rays’ lead to 12-6.
The Rays answered in the bottom of the third with two more runs. Faraci scored on a throwing error, and Nate Bartoli hit his second homer of the game.
Rose scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the fourth to make it 15-6 Rays, and Nate Bartoli singled in the bottom of the fifth to score Faraci.
The Rays will face the winner of the Nationals-Blue Jays playoff game for the Woodbury Baseball & Softball Major League championship.
