Bug hunts, hiking the trails, exploring the pond, creating land art, farming fun and pumpkin painting are just part of the outdoor adventures your child can have every Wednesday at Flanders.
The Wednesday Wildlife after school programs gives your child in grades K-5 the chance to explore Flanders’ 200-acre campus, be active and have a blast all while connecting to science, nature, farming and art. Everyone helps feed the farm animals at the end of the day.
Flanders’ Education Coordinator/Farm Manager, Dianne Parmalee notes, “Our sessions are much more than typical after-school programs. We emphasize environmental education in everything we do and provide lots of opportunities for kids to get moving outdoors.”
The program runs from 2:45 to 5:30 PM on Wednesday afternoons starting on September 26th and going through November 28th. Parents can provide their own transportation or bus transportation to Flanders is also available from Bethlehem and Mitchell Elementary Schools.
Cost per class for Bethlehem students is $20 and Mitchell Elementary school students $15; Extended care until 6PM is available for an additional fee of $5 per class. Timing and costs will vary but the programs will also run on early dismissal days.
Pre-registration is required. Beat after school boredom and make Wednesdays their favorite day of the week. Those interested may register online at www.flandersnaturecenter.org or call 203-263-3711, ext. 10, for more information.
