Report of Suspicious Person at Nonnewaug Led to Drug Arrest

WOODBURY – Police arrested a 22-year-old Meriden man on drug and motor vehicle charges June 5 after they received reports of a suspicious person at Nonnewaug High School.

According to a police report, Woodbury Police pulled over Dalan Duncan, 22, of Meriden, near the school entrance because they smelled marijuana coming from his vehicle.

While searching his vehicle, Woodbury Police found two baggies of suspected crack cocaine weighing less than one gram in the read drivers’ seat compartment pouch.

Upon further searching during processing at Troop L in Bethany, troopers found a baggie of suspected crack cocaine weighing less than one gram and one baggie of suspected marijuana weighing less than one gram in Duncan’s right sock.

Duncan was charged with distribution of controlled substances within 1,500 feet of a school zone, illegal possession of narcotics (cocaine), possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana, and operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Duncan was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 21.
