Report of Adult Asking 8th Graders to Snapchat Deemed a False Threat

WOODBURY – A report that an adult had asked Woodbury Middle School 8th graders to friend him on the social media app Snapchat has been deemed an unsubstantiated threat, Region 14 Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph Olzacki wrote in an email to parents today.

According to Olzacki, the threat was reported at 9:45 a.m. and Woodbury Middle School administration immediately contacted and spoke to Woodbury Resident Trooper Sgt. Joseph Roden, the school’s resource officer, and officers from the Woodbury Police Department.

“These agencies have informed us that there is no credible threat to our schools,” Olzacki wrote in the email.

To reassure all students, the administration visited every class to reassure students of their safety, Olzacki wrote.
