WOODBURY – As the town meeting moderator, Louis C. DeLuca is responsible for keeping Woodbury’s annual town meeting moving along and in order.

As first selectman, Bill Butterly can toss a curveball DeLuca’s way.

And even though the last item on the agenda read “to transact such other business as may properly come before said meeting,” and DeLuca couldn’t figure out why his wife, Alice, insisted on attending the town meeting, Butterly’s curveball caught DeLuca off guard.

Butterly announced at the town meeting Monday that the cafeteria in the Woodbury Senior Community Center would be named in DeLuca’s honor.

When DeLuca was a state senator representing the 32nd district, he was instrumental in getting the funding the Town of Woodbury needed to get the Woodbury Senior Community Center project off the ground, Butterly said.

Current State Senator Eric Berthel and State Representative Joe Polletta (68th) were also on hand last night to issue DeLuca an official citation to commemorate the honor.
