    In December 1860 Henry David Thoreau visited Waterbury (in the midst of a raging snow storm) to deliver a lecture called "Autumnal Tints". Although he was suffering from a bad cold, Thoreau read his lecture before The Young Men's Institute at Hotchkiss Hall. It would be the last lecture that Thoreau would ever give.
