Verdiglione and Cronin Win Berkshire Valley Postseason Invitational Championships

WINSTED – The Nonnewaug High School wrestling team finished third overall at the Berkshire Valley Postseason Invitational Championship meet, which was held at Gilbert School on Saturday.

Two Nonnewaug wrestlers were crowned champions in their respective weight brackets.

In the 120-lb. bracket, Nonnewaug sophomore Thomas Verdiglione pinned Oxford’s Thomas Chappa in 4:43 to win the title.

Nonnewaug junior Jack Cronin won the 182-lb. bracket by pinning Northwesthern’s Jacob Twombly in 2:11.

Colden Williamson (126), Kelvin Cenkoli (132) and Flori Cenkoli (170) had second-place finishes for the Chiefs, and Ethan Dzaferi (152) and Chris Velleca (195) placed fourth in their brackets.

Nonnewaug will compete in the CIAC Class S tournament Saturday in Winsted.
