WOODBURY – Last year, those who went to the Woodbury Memorial Day Parade needed umbrellas to keep them dry on a misty and cool spring day.
This year, attendees could have used those umbrellas to keep them shaded on a hot and sunny summer-like day.
According to Parks and Recreation Director Jenifer Miller, 28 groups or organizations marched in the 2019 Memorial Day Parade, which started on Church Street, turned south onto Main Street, and ended at the Cannon Green.
A ceremony honoring those who lost their lives defending the United States, prisoners of war missing in action, and U.S. veterans was held after the parade at the Cannon Green.
The guest speaker was Thomas J. Saadi, a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves and the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs. Saadi told those assembled that we all need to do our best to help our veterans, as well as the families of veterans.
