The Woodbury Bethlehem Youth Soccer U14 girls team will always remember their last season together.
The team has been playing together since 2011, and finished their final season the spring undefeated.
The WBYS U14 girls finished the spring season with a perfect 8-0 record, and were champions of the Northwest District of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA).
“This is their last season together playing for WBYS as most of the girls will be off to high school in the fall,” said U14 coach Andie Greene. “Many of these girls have been playing soccer together since first grade.”
On its way to the undefeated season, the U14 girls beat teams from Brookfield 2-1 and 9-3, New Milford 3-0 and 1-0, New Hartford 6-1 and 7-1 as well as New Fairfield 6-0. Their toughest game was a 2-1 win against second place Northwest United, which finished the season with just the one loss to WBYS.
The girls roster only had 14 players of which 11 were goal scorers: Kate Greene (8 goals), Alexa Burke (6 goals), Samantha Ouellette (6 goals), Reilly Faraci (4 goals), Grace Koukopoulos (3 goals), Maura Yocis (2 goals), Maddie Roden (2 goals), Stephanie DiSarro (2 goals), Marley Baker (1 goal), Mia Higgins (1 goal) and Haley Gonzales -(1 goal).
Eliza Ford was also outstanding as keeper, recording 3 clean sheets and 4 games with only one goal scored against. The team scored 36 total goals and only allowed 7 goals.
Mya Julian (defense) and Gabriella Binette (midfield) rounded out the WBYS U14 squad, and had valuable roles on the team.
