Wednesday is Woodbury Volunteer Appreciation Day

Woodbury Volunteer Appreciation Night at the Hollow will feature a visit from the Ice Cream Emergency mobile ice cream parlor.

WOODBURY – What’s On in Woodbury (WOW) will celebrate Woodbury’s volunteers this Wednesday during the Newtown Savings Bank Summer Concert Series show at Hollow Park.

Woodbury Parks & Recreation director Jenifer Miller said WOW just wanted to do something to thank volunteers for all their hard – often unsung work. While she added that volunteers don’t seek attention for their work, it’s always nice to have someone say thank you.

Miller added that WOW is not just honoring volunteers from town-based agencies and boards. If you are a volunteer for any group – scouts, youth sports, schools, churches, etc. – you can come and join the celebration.

Miller said the event will feature live music from Woodbury musicians Root Six, a proclamation by Woodbury selectmen, photo opportunities, and a visit from the Ice Cream Emergency Mobile Ice Cream parlor.

If you’re a Woodbury volunteer, Miller said to identify yourself to event staff for your free ice cream.
