Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department Hosts 9/11 Memorial Ceremony


The Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department honored the victims of 9/11 on Tuesday in Hollow Park.

Former Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bud Neal presented flowers to four families representing the victims from Woodbury and symbolically all 3,000 victims while standing in front of Woodbury Engine 4, an all-purpose fire-fighting vehicle.

Nonnewaug High School music teacher Amy Perras is set to lead the Nonnewaug High School Region 14 choir in renditions of the National Anthem and other patriotic melodies. An honor guard comprising military veterans also paraded the colors.

First Selectman Bill Butterly will offer a tribute. Janet Morgan, Chief of the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department, lead the fire department contingent and a fire department officer tolled a fire bell in the traditional memorial salute to the dead, who include 343 New York City firefighters.
